Education Committee
The Escondido Chamber's Education Committee is focused on connecting leaders in education to leaders in the business community. Their goal is to work together towards workforce development, cutting edge curriculum and educational resource sustainability.
This month:
Palomar College recognizes the diversity of their students’ educational goals, so we're proud to have Bruce Reaves and Juan Gonzalez from Palomar College presenting at the Education Committee Meeting. They will be discussing California’s Pathways initiative and the wide range of educational programs available to their students.
Early in Bruce’s career, he developed a life-long passion to serve people. He worked as a residential counselor in a teen shelter and at the San Diego County Probation Department. He is also an adjunct professor of Human Resource Management for a local University. After retiring from Probation, Bruce sought employment where he might use his skills to help provide equity to students. A little over a year ago, Palomar College hired Bruce as the Job Developer/Case Manager where he continues to build business partnerships and connect the students to internships and jobs within their field of study.
Juan Gonzalez, a former student at Palomar College began his career in student services. He now works in the Workforce Development department, coordinating the day-to-day academic operations of three Apprenticeship programs. Additionally, he serves as the college’s liaison for The San Diego Carpenters Training Center, the Sheet Metal Training Center, and the Electrical Training Center. These programs are “learn while you earn” and provide excellent career options for students.
